WET WEATHER.

. ♦ We reproduce the following record of wet weather from the Hawke's Bay Herald, not because it has any special reference to Wanganui but to show how exceptionally wet the last two seasons have been not only on this coast but in other parts of the colony. The east coast in the average season is drier than the west; but apparently in the years 1892-93 the rain has distributed itself pretty copiously all over New Zealand : — We are indebted to Mr G. Coklham Williams for the following table showing the rainfall for the first half of 1892 and 1893, together with the average fall per year for the five years ending December, 1891. From this it will be seen that the fall for both half-years was very nearly as heavy as during any o£ the five proceeding full years. Probably the wettest month ever known in this part of the colony was June 1893, as during tho last five weeks there have been only eight days upon which rain did not fall. The heaviest fall in 1892 was during the 24 hours ending May Btb, when Bin. was registered, Thisyear 5-18 in. fell on the night of June 21st, during which downpour 3Hn. fell in two hours. The following is the table :—
