AUCKLAND ITEMS.
+ 6 (Peb United Pbess Association.) Auckland, June 1. Some of the friends of Mr S. Allon intend to petition Parliament to remove the disqualification imposed on him by the judges in the late election petition case. At the request of the President of the Auckland Typographical Union, Mr Shera intends to communicate with the Government asking that the Auckland printers out of work should share witfi tho Wellington printers in getting work at the Government Printing Office during the session. Tho man Floyd, charged with the murder of Voitch at Wairoa South, is to bo examined as to his sanity. This examination is to bo undertaken on behalf of the defence. The City North Licensing Committee declined an application that the United Service Hotel, which adjoins tho Opera House, and is in a principal part of tho city, should be permitted to remain open till 11 o'clock at niptht. They stated that the' committee would grant 11 o'clock licenses if the law wore altered so us to provide puntahmont if houses were kept open after 11, but in the present state of the law 11 o'clock licensos meant thiit the house was kept open till 12 o'clock.
