JUNIOR CUP— WANGANUI SECOND v. KAIERAU SECOND.

[By Touch-line.] The first contest for the Jnnior Cup took place on Saturday last, between teams representing 1 , .the Kaierau and Wanganui Clubs. The- match was far from an interesting one, and resulted in a win for the newly-formed club (Kaierau) by a goal to a try. Both teams would be the better for more steady practice, and had it not been for the Wanganuis playing Leys (one rf their Seniors), the Eaieraus would haye simply "walked" through them. This, in my opinion, was iD extremely bad taste, although Leys, according to the rules of the Union, was „ * perfectly justified in playing for the * Juniors, as he has not represented his club for the Senior Cup this season! still, it was not good form, more especiallay as the Kaierau "reps" were doing battle for the Senior Championship and, therefore, had no chance of retaliation. In the first spell of the match on Saturday Richardson, for the' Kaieraus, secured a try, and J. Purnell kicked!^ goal from a very difficult angle. In tjJe latter half of the game Kitson got over for the Wanganuis, but Caldwell failee to increase the minor point, and as thord was no further score on either side the game ended as before stated, in a win for the Kaieraus.
