FLAX ON CROWN LANDS

United Press Association.] Christchubch, May 12, Tho Commissioner of Crown Lauds has taken cognisance of a considerable amount; of phormium tonax ivhioh has been taken without authority from Crown lands. The ran.g«r« have received instructions to 1 report any case of the kind that comes ' under their notice, as it is a breach of covenant to deal with any flax on lands leased from Government without obtaining the necessary authority. In one case ' , it; ia yopor-tpd thi>t a, bargain had b<wn i made for flax which was on ground not I evon leased. Tho Department heard of it in time to prevent this unlawful profit buing made. '
