A Balloon Ascent.
PROFESSOR BALDWIN IN DUNEDIN ■ ■ (Per Unitod Press Association:) Dunbdin, January 21. '"'Professor Baldwin made a successful balloon ascent and parachute descent this evening. Although, only a gentle breeze was blowing, he was carried about < a quarter of a mile from the starting point, and the few seconds, when ho camo nway from the balloon before the parachute oponad, wero most exciting, nnd the .suspense caused many to almost faint. The height asoenderl was from 800. to 1000 feat.
