THE REMINGTON-LEE RIFLE

CONDEMNED BY ACOKLAND SHOOTING MEN. (PBR UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION,) Auckland, December 30 At a meeting of the Auckland memberg of the New Zealand Bifle Association, held at the DrilUhed to-night, it was unanimously reaolved, That, in the opinion of this meeting, the RemingtonLee is a dangerous and useless weapon, and it was decided to ask the council of the association to procure Martinis Henri's for use at the next meeting of the Bifle Association to be held at Oamaru. Great dissatisfaction is experienced amongst the Volunteers with the £euiington>Lee, which, at the meeting of the Auckland Bifle Association on Monday and Tuesday, was found to be inferior to the MartiniHenri and Snider, the lowest sooresin a inatoh in which these weapons only were used being made with the Kerning-ton-Leei Two accidents also oaourred at this meeting through the use of tbe new Government gun, and whilst the weapon was being fired in one instance, pare of the stock was blown away. It i* probable that if the council of the New Zealand Bifle Association finally decide that the Hemingtoii-Lee rifle shall be used at the Oamaru meeting the majority of the Auckland members will not attend.
