! FeidAy, Feb. 19, 1886. (Before R. Ward, Esq , KM.) DRUNKENNESS. J. Hart, alias McDoughal, was fined ss, in default 24 hours' imprisonment, for being drunk. IDIiB AND DISORDERLY. Henry Barstow was fined 10s, or 24 hours' imprisonment, for drunkenness, it being his second offenoe.—He was then charged with having no visible means of support. Constable M*ckle gave evidenoe that the accused was an idle fellow. Several complaints had been made about his entering premises. William Askew said that the accused had gone into his house, and tried to open his box. He had stayed there before for a few days. Accused said he was ia the habit of sawing wood and doing odd jobs. As the evidence was not considered sufficient to commit, the Magistrate gave the prisoner the benefit of the doubt, and discharged him. CIVIL OASES. Waitotara County Council v, David Taylor ; claim, £23 18s Id. Me Djmock (clerk) proved the claim. Judgment for plaintiff, with costs 13s. W, G. Bassett v. J. A. Johnston ; olaim, i>!o. Mr Marshall, for plaintiff, applied for judgment on a telegram re> . cieved from Constable Coyle, of Mar ton, stating that the money had been paid into the Marton couvfc, Judgment, on the telegram, with counsel's fee £1, and ; costs os. ! R. T. Shields v. Hori Kerei; claim £107 14s ; judgment summons. Mv Borlase announced that the case would be abandonei by the plaintiff. ' Lundberg and Co. v. William Gtough and Susannah Gough ; claim, £5. This was an application to take evidence in a a case pending at Fatea. The male defendant stated that the debt had been incurred before the 4th of June last, when he married his wife. Had not become entitled to any property through his marriage, except -* to his " wife and nine chiHren. Susannah Ctough, the female defendant, said she had had the chest of drawers sued for before her former husband was killed. She had no separate property from her husband, and had not rendered herself liable for the debt. Her huaband had left no property when he died. Counsel's fee tMr J; Watt), on 9 guinea, was allowed.
