February 17. The drapers' Thursday halt-holiday movement has been carried to a success* ful issue here. The natives hd/u withdrawn their obstruction to prospecting in the King Country. After occupying the Police Oourfc for two and a-half days, the case against Keenan and the wooiau Bmith, for robbiug a Hokianga settler of £G5, res suited in the committal of the prisoners. A fancy fair on a grand scale was opened at the Drill Shed to-day, in aid of St. Benedict's Church. The opening ceremonial was very elaborate.
