CHRISTCHURCH.

February 15. . At 3.30 o'clock thiq morning a sixroomed bouse in Sydenham belonging to George Scott was burned down. The house was occupied by Mr J. A. Rankin, and used as a general store. The bouse is not insured, but the stock was insured for £300 in the Victoria office. There are in Ohristchurch at the present time no less than thirty of the gentry formerly described as Sydney oaagsmen. They have already distinguished themselves at one or two of the local race meetings, and will pro* bably make their way southwards. Colonel Whitaore left for Dunedin this morning.
