HOSPITAL BOARD.
♦ e At the usual monthly meeting of th above board held in the Borough Council Chambers yesterday there were present — MeesrsPeat,Polson,Maoarthur, West, and Wilson. Mr F. R. Jaokson, the chairman of the board, being unavoidably absent, Mr Peat was voted to the ohair. Minutes. — The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Old Man's Refuge.— A letter was read from Mr £. N. Liffiton stating that he could let the Tyne House to the board for a period of three or five years at £80 a year, or sell the whole seotion with ono or two email cottages adjoin* iu £ for £1000,of which half could remain on mortgage. DrEarle stated thathe had inspected the house in Guyton-street, belonging to Mr George Howe, and at present oooupied by Mrs Delves, and considered it would be large enough for about ten patients, and for that number would suit very well. It was resolved, That the chairman and Dr Earle should report alternatively on the cost of putting Mr Howe's house in repair, and of adding two wards to the hospital. Increased "Wages. — A letter was read from Mr Langley, the assistant at the hospital, requesting a rise in wages from £1 2s 6<_ to £1 5s a week, stating that he had to be on duty from 5,30 a.m. to 6 30 p.m. every day in the week. Granted. Cost of Patients. — A letter was read from the Napier Hospital Board protesting against- a oharge of 4s lOd a day (which includes medical treatment, &o.) made by the Wanganui Hospital Board for a man namel John Johnson, and stating that the cost of keep, Sao,, at Napier is _. a day. Accounts. — Accounts to the amount of £125 ls 8d were passed for payment.
