RESULTS OF SOCIALISM, ROBBERY AND VIOLENCE. POLIOE POWERLESB TO SUPPRESS OUTRAGES. (reuter's telegrams.) (Received February 9, 2 p.m.) London, February 8. A mass meeting of unemployed was held to-day in Trafalgar Square, when resolutions were adopted for an appeal to Government generally, to take step, to remedy the distress. The addresses were of a very inflammatory character, many speakers propounding socialist doctrines of a violent kind. Tha mob dispersed in a riotous manner when the meeting ended, and smashed a number of club windows iv Pall Mall. (Received February 9, 2.30 p.m.) . Tbe mob, when returning from the meeting of unemployed to-day, behaved in a most disgraceful way, breaking into and completely sacking th, estabs lishments of jewellers, wino sellers, and bakers, in the vicinity of Picoadilly and South Audley-str e et, and attacking and robbing the occupants of passing carriages as well a3 foot passengers. The rioters then marched through Oxford and Regent Streets, smashing windows as they passed along. The police were greatly outnumbered, and were power~ less to suppress the outrages.
