This Company is formed with the object of preparing by the Refrigerating, or other process, Meat, Butter, Cheese, &c, for shipment, and of undertaking the Export and Sale thereof. The Promoters at present intend making arrangements for the shipment of as many cargoes as possible next Autumn. They consider that it would neither be practicable nor advisable to erect extensive works for Shore Freezing in time to be available for these cargoes, and it will in their opinion be necessary to make these first shipments by vessels having the appliances for freezing on board. The erection of the works will therefore not; be a matter for immediate decision, and time will thus be available for obtaining more definite information, and for taking advantage of the many improvements in the process which, as the result of experience, are certain to be made. The site or sites on which the wori will ultimately be erected it is not at present proposed to fix, any further than by deciding that they shall be placed so as to be most convenient to those districts the produce of which will be shipped from the Port of Wellington. It is intended that the Company shall have power either to purchase or ship, on owners' account, as may be found desirable. The trade is yet so completely in its infancy that it is difficult to foretell the proportions to which it may ultimately develop. The promoters have, however, sufficient evidence before them to prove that it can be carried on at once with a reasonable certainty of substantial profits on any purchases of stock at current prices ; and the higher rates which 'will soon be established will, of course, be a further profit to all producers of the articles to be exported. The Promoters confidently rely on all those who are directly or indirectly interested in developing the grazing industry of the country, to assist them in carrying out what, if properly managed, cannot fail to prove a very profitable undertaking. It is hardly necessary to point oiit the immense effect on the prosperity of the whole colony of a large increase in the market value of several of its main products. This, it is anticipated, will be quite as much the case with regard to dairy produce as meat, by settling, as it will in a most satisfactory manner, the important problem of the profitable occupation in small holdings ot our vast extent of bush land. As tirae is of the greatest importance, the Promoters hope no unnecessary delay will occur in tailing up the Shares, so that the company can be registered and begin operations at once ; 600 shares are already applied for. Fomis of application can be obtained at the Company's Temporary Office, I Carterton; at the Chamber of Commerce, Wellington ; from any of the Provisional Directors ; and at the various branches of the Bank of New Zealand.
