MASTERTON.
March 7. TBE LATE FIRE AT MASTERTON. An inquest is proceeding at the Club Hotel on the late fire, at the instance of the Insurance agents. Alfred Feilding has expressed the opinion that the fire must have originated in the upper floor of Dalrymple's building. John Erkson noticed the h're running up the scrim under the wall of the downstairs front room. It is believed the fire originated downstairs. It is thought that a considerable portion of Brown's stock might have been saved, but it is understood Brown was unwilling to let anyone in . The night watchman noticed no suspicious persons or circumstances in connection with the fire. Clayson, a cook, informed him that Mrs Brown refused him entry into the premises to save the goods.
