AUCKLAND.

Nov 17. At a large public meeting, the Mayor, presiding, aud 1,000 people present, the first resolution was carried with enthusiastic demonstration — That it is desirable that the financial position of the colony be placed before tbe c<.bmy by the present Government, and if factious opposition be continued, that the Government should immediately apply fur a dissolution. The second resolution passed was— That copies be sent to Sir George Grey and the Auckland City members, Mr Reader Wood and Dr Wallis. A resolution was also carried to the effect that an address be prepared to the Governor urging Sir George Grey's claim to a dissolution, and asserting that it is the only solution for the present evenly balanced state of affairs. The meeting concluded with three cheers for Sir Geo. Grey. The weights for the Summer Meeting were declared as follows :— Auckland Cup of 200 soys, with a sweepstake of 10 soys each added ; second horse to receive 20 soys, third horse to save his stakes ; distance, 2| miles ; acceptances, with 3 soys, close on the 30th November :- -Danebury, 4yrs, 9st ; Hippocampus, 4yrs, Bst lllb ; Lurla, syrs, 7st 7lb ; Gangforward, 4yrs, 7st 6lb ; Elsa, syrs, 7st 4lb ; Bide-a-wee, aged, 7st; Gillie Callum, syrs, 7st ; Longlands, 3yrs, 7st ; Venus Transit, 3yrs, 6st I3lb ; Ratcatcher, 3yrs, 6st 13lb : Foul Play, 3yrs, 6st 12lb; Oberon, 3yrs, 6st 101 b ; Farthenopaeus, 3yrs, 6st 71b; Baron, 3yrs, 6st.
