At a large public meeting, the Mayor, presiding, aud 1,000 people present, the first resolution was carried with enthusiastic demonstration — That it is desirable that the financial position of the colony be placed before tbe c<.bmy by the present Government, and if factious opposition be continued, that the Government should immediately apply fur a dissolution. The second resolution passed was— That copies be sent to Sir George Grey and the Auckland City members, Mr Reader Wood and Dr Wallis. A resolution was also carried to the effect that an address be prepared to the Governor urging Sir George Grey's claim to a dissolution, and asserting that it is the only solution for the present evenly balanced state of affairs. The meeting concluded with three cheers for Sir Geo. Grey.
