ACTORS ON STRIKE

IN SYDNEY & MELBOURNE AGAINST EMPLOYMENT OF NON-UNIONISTS (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.45 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Members of the Actors’ Equity, at three theatres in Sydney and Melbourne, have gone on strike. One show was abandoned and the other two are being performed with depleted casts. The strike occurred because all three shows included non-unionists in their casts. From tonight the Actors’ Equity will picket the theatres. Nonunionists said the Equity was employing intimidation as a chief means to persuade artists to join its ranks.
