PERSONAL ITEMS (“Times-Age” Special.) In the absence of the .Mayor, Councillor E. McKenzie (dcputy-Mayor) presented Private K. E. King and J. Conwell with gifts from the citizens of Carterton on the eve of their leaving for camp. He said both men were sons of respected Carterton citizens, and asked their acceptance of parcels. He wished them good luck, good health and a safe return to Carterton. Councillor McKenzie mentioned that since the outbreak of war 154 servicemen. 2 nursing sisters, 1 V.A.D. ahd one W.A.A.C. had left Carterton for service overseas and each had received a gift from the borough. Mr. F. I;. Barr spoke oh behalf of the R.S.A., and Pte. Conwell returned thanks. Privates G. R. Grimmer and K. E. King, members of the Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge of Odd Fellows, who are on leave from military duties, have been presented with well-filled leather writing companions by the members of the lodge and wished the best of luck. The secretary made the presentations to each soldier. Mr. M. M. McLaren, patrol officer to the Nelson Automobile Association, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Beere, Pembroke Street. Juvenile Druids’ Lodge. The quarterly meeting of the Juvenile Lodge of Druids was held last night Arch Druid Bro. S. Robinson presiding. Final arrangements for the football match against the Boy Scouts on' June 5 were made. The games will be played on Carrington Park and the kickoff will take place at 1 p.m. Grand Lodge was thanked for defraying the cost of purchase of games amounting to £7 10s. The election of officers resulted as follows: Arch Druid Bro. K. Knowles; Vice-Arch Druid, Bro. N. Desmond; Inner Guard, Bro. J. Daysh; Outer Guard, Bro. I. Harris; Arch Druid Bards, Bros. C. L. Lyster and A. H. Dew; Vice-Arch Bards, Bros. B. McCarty and I. Renal! It was resolved that the newly-elect-ed officers be installed on June 6, when members of other lodges will be invited to attend the ceremony and will be entertained at supper by the juvenile members. Bro. R. Whisker, who is taking up his residence in Wanganui shortly, was farewelled by the superintendent on behalf of the Lodge. Social Gathering. There was a fair attendance at the Daleficld Hall last evening when a social gathering was tendered Pte. Jack Conwell. Mr. T. Udy’s Orchestra supplied excellent dance music and much appreciated extras were played by Miss Lola Hopkins and Corporal Keith Hopkins. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Keith Parker and partner, and a Lucky Spot waltz by Mr and Mrs. J. W. Merwood. Mr. V 7. Press was an efficient M.C. During the evening, Mr. L. J. Fairbrother took the opportunity to extend a hearty welcome home to L.A/c. C, Bambry and Pte. T. McKay. A ladies' committee supervised supper. REGENT THEATRE “WILD BILL HICKOK RIDES.” There will be finally shown tonight the exciting drama of the West, “Wild Bill Kikok Rides,” a story of one cf the most noted sheriffs who successfully handled the notorious characters of the early days of the West. Bruce Cabot and Constance Bennett nave the principal roles.
