DANCE & EUCHRE PARTY A SOLDIER HONOURED (“Times-Age” Special.) A dance and euchre party was held at Aohanga station to welcome home Private Henry Power, Junr., of the Maori Battalion. Mr Whitmore welcomed Pte. Power on behalf of the settlers and made a presentation to the guest of honour. Pte. Power suitably replied. The winners at euchre were: Ladies, Mrs L. Lang 1, Mrs Whitmore 2; men, Master H. Power 1, Mr Henry Power 2. The statue waltz was won by Miss Morgan and Pte. Kingi Matthews of the Maori Battalion. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Mrs May Webster and Mrs P. Power. Pte. K. Matthews, Pte. Henry Power and Mrs R. Booker rendered songs. Pte. Kingi Matthews was on a visit to his great-grandmother, Mrs J- Power, one of the oldest settlers at Aohanga. The M.C. was Mr Rantin and the music was provided by H. Power. The cake raffles were won by “Twins” (Greytown) and the Wanganui holder of a ticket.
