— r » WELLINGTON MEETING. FURTHER SCRATCHINGS ANNOUNCED. The following additional scratchings in connection with the Wellington Racing Club's meeting at Trentham on Saturday were announced yesterday: Wellington Stakes. —Phaleron Sign, 2 p.m. Telegraph Handicap.— Silver Lily, 2.45 p.m. Trentham Highweight. —Georgia, 4.20 p.m. Solid miles by Royal Merit and Lord Chancellor, Macedoine and Rink, and Don Quex, good sevens by Kindergarten and Glenfalloch, and a smart five by Beau Vaals and Sweet Biscuit were features of the final gallops at Trentham yesterday for the Wellington Racing Club’s summer meeting which will open at Trentham tomorrow. The weather was fine and mild at Trentham and the plough track, on which all the fast work was done, was in fast condition. Many of the horses worked were restricted to serviceable tasks as most of them have had plenty of holiday racing and are feeling the effects of the hard going. Kindergarten and Lou Rosa galloped seven furlongs in 1.29 1-5 at Trentham yesterday. They stayed together till the last furlong, where Kindergarten was shaken up, and he drew away to beat the Aucklander by a length. The champion ran his last three in 37 1-5 and finished strongly. There is still nothing definite about his programme for cup day, but his trainer says he can see no reason w’hy the horse should not run as he is very -well ai. present.
