SEVERAL SUNK OR HEAVILY
DAMAGED IN AMERICAN BOMBING ATTACK ON MARSHALLS. INEFFECTIVE ENEMY RAID ON TARAWA. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 1.10 p.m.) WASHINGTON, January 13. When Army Air Force bombers struck at Maloelap atoll, in the Mar shells, a small auxiliary vessel was sunk, a medium cargo ship heavily bombed and probably sunk, and a large destroyer heavily damaged, says a Pacific Fleet communique. Installations on several atolls and islands were also bombed. Two attacks were carried out against Mili atoll. Enemy bombers attacked Tarawa, causing minor damage to installations and minor casualties.
