DRY WEATHER

DAIRY FARMERS PERTURBED. FACTORY SUPPLIES FALLING. Dairy farmers generally are perturbed at the continued dry weather, as factory supplies are now dropping. Unless rain falls at an early date, the season promises to be as bad if not worse than that experienced last year. The effects of the present dry spell have been intensified by the bad season last year, when a dry autumn was followed by bad winter conditions. In consequence, dairy stock came in this season in fairly poor condition and later when there was nourishment in the grass they put on condition instead of producing more butterfat. The spring rains, followed by the dry summer, has sent all the grass to seed, a .state of affairs which is not favourable [for dairy stock.
