AWARDS TO NEW ZEALAND SOLDIERS OPERATIONS ON TREASURY ISLAND. OFFICERS & MEN HONOURED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Governor-General announced last evening that His Majesty the King had been pleased to approve of the following immediate operational awards to personnel of the 2nd N.Z.E.F. in recognition of gallant and distinguished service during operations on Treasury Island in the South Pacific area:— Bar to the Distinguished Service Order: Brigadier Robert Amos Row, D.S.O. Military Cross: 2nd Lieutenant Leslie Thomas George Booth. Next-of-kin: Mrs A. Booth (wife), 24 Cuba Street, Christchurch. Distinguished Conduct Medal: Sergeant William Albert Cowan. Next-of-kin, Mrs L. B. Cowan (wife), Ngatai Street, Taumarunui. Military Medal: Sapper Jack Keith Duncan. Next-of-kin, Mrs K. Duncan (wife), 264 Dominion Road, Auckland. Private Joseph Edward Smith. Next-of-kin, Mrs E. M. Smith (wife), Oncroa, Waiheke Island, Auckland. Corporal Frederick Arthur Armstrong. Next-of-kin, Mrs L. Armstrong (wife), 6 Rose Street, Napier. Private Edward Valentine Owen. Next-of-kin, Mrs M. A. Owen (wife), Sixth Avenue, Tauranga.
