General Leese, in- an interview, expressed the belief that there were many people who did not rcciliso. all that the forces in Italy were up against. “From El Alamein to the Sangro River,” he said, “the Germans had their heads over their shoulders; they were always ready to pull out when they were hard-pressed. Now they are fighting like hell. . ■ We are up against a grim job of fighting.” _
