SINGLE PARTY

NAZI AIM IN FRANCE LAVAL’S ROLE. ELIMINATION OF SMALL GROUPS. (By Telegraph—/Press Association —Copyright) ■ (Received This Day, 11.0 a.m.) LONDON, December 11. A German intention to force the formation of a single party from Collaborationists throughout France is emerging from ■ the confusion surrounding M. Laval’s recent visits to Paris. The German News Agency predicted an early elimination of small groups and M. Laval’s assumption to power over a single organisation. “The Times” correspondent on the French frontier asserts that the issue is still in doubt, because of Laval's inflexible opposition to the inclusion of MMs. Deat z ?nd Doriot, both of whom are seeking 'German favours in Paris. Meanwhile Laval continues wholesale arrests in the former Vichy zone, including M. Eugene de Londe, who was M. De- t’s former collaborator. He is an extreme Rightist and former head of the Cogoulards. The arrest is ascribed to his “contacts with Admiral Darlan and M. Pucheu.” The others who have been arrested are General Doyen and M. Lazara, a former French representative, also M. Champetier de Ribes, a former Minister of Pensions, who was prominent in the Democrate Populaire Catholic group. He was hitherto regarded as extremely proGorman and the German principal ■‘leak” in the Vichy zone. Despite Laval’s dislike for MMs. Doriot and Deal die German News Agency reports, M. Deal’s party, the Aeassemblement National, is prepared to join Laval.
