SACK SUPPLIES
CONSERVATION MOST NECESSARY CO-OPERATION OF FARMERS SOUGHT.
Farmers are urged by the Wairarapa Primary Production Council to do everything possible to conserve supplies of jute goods, such as sacks and woolpacks. Not a single sack should be wasted. A circular from the National Council of Primary Production points out the seriousness of the position, following on the Japanese occupation of Burma and influence in the Indian Ocean and states that the co-operation of all farmers is essential. Farmers must realise how difficult their operations would be without sacks and goods of a similar nature. New Zealand has a use, it is stated, for every sack that can be saved. Even if it is old, it has a use for wood, coke or, vegetables and in extreme old age it can be broken up by flock mills. Wherever possible, sacks should be returned to accredited sack merchants. They will be paid for at market rates.
