MOTOR LIGHTS
MINISTER’S WARNING REGULATIONS TO BE STRICTLY ENFORCED. PUBLIC SAFETY ENDANGERED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A warning to motorists of their obligation to comply with the Lighting Restrictions Emergency Regulations was given last evening by the Minister of National Service, Mr Semple. He said that in future the regulations would be strictly enforced and the police and traffic authorities had been asked to take action against all offenders. Mr Semple said that now winter was here all motorists should see to it that their vehicle lighting complied with the regulations. Many had always been careful to observe their obligations, but unfortunately too many were failing to do so. Such failure endangered public safety and created unnecessary difficulties for other road-users. The Minister again urged all pedestrians to wear or carry something white when they were on the streets at night. A white belt two inches in width was recommended as suitable for the purpose.
