ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS LOYAL HEART OF OAK LODGE. ("Times-Age” Special.) P.G. Sister K. Mitchell presided over the fortnightly meeting of Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge last evening. Bro and Mrs Geo Riggs wrote thanking the lodge for the letter of sympathy forwarded in connection with the death of Mrs Rigg’s father, Mr Shiress Reid. Seasons greetings were received from Bro R. R. Maltby, secretary of the N.Z. Friendly Societies’ Mutual Fidelity Guarantee Association. The secretary was instructed to write to the District Secretary, Bro P. F. Foot, congratulating him upon his recent marriage. Reports regarding sick members in the Buchanan Home and the Masterton Hospital were received. P.G. Bro. J. A. T. Stevens volunteered to occupy the Guardian’s office for the current term. The following nominations for seats on the Wellington District Hospital Association, M.U.1.0.0.F., were received: Vice-president, Bro J. L. Stewart; management committee, Sisters .E. R. McFarlane and Dumbleton, Bros. Sherwood, Russell, Woods, Eades and Leggett. NATIONAL SAVINGS . QUOTA MAINTAINED. Carterton’s quota in connection with the National Savings Campaign is being well maintained. In the four days ended January 3 the sum of £702 17s was received. The National Savings totalled £674 17s and the sale of bonds amounted to £2B. The ball is well on the way to the top of the pole. Vital Statistics. The following are the vital statistics for 1941, wjth those for 1940 being given in parentheses: —Births 83 (80); marriages, 32 (51); deaths, 30 (44). Personal Items. Mrs Guy Booth and her son, of Pahautanui, are visiting Carterton and are staying with Mrs Booth’s mother. Warning to Trespassers. Messrs Geo. E. Allen & Son, of East Taratahi, intend, owing to people wandering over their property with dogs and gun and disturbing the sheep and making a parking ground for cars, to prosecute anyone found trespassing. A Wild Night. • 'One of the wildest nights in Carterton for some considerable time was experienced last night, the wind blowing at gale force until early this morning when heavy rain commenced to fall. Vegetable and fruit gardens in exposed positions suffered considerable damage. REGENT THEATRE TONIGHT’S PROGRAMME. Tonight a double feature programme of outstanding merit will be screened —“The Navy Steps Out,” starring George Murphy and Lucille Ball, and “The Hun at War,” a captured German war film.
