NATIONAL SAVINGS
LAST WEEK’S FIGURES. EXPECTATION OF GREATER PROGRESS. Reporting on the progress of the first week’s operations of the National Savings quota campaign in Masterton, Mr E. H. Nicholson, local organiser, stated that the total of £290 8s 7d. had been attained last week. Fifty-seven new accounts had been opened and one new group arranged. The money ball on the Post Office flag-pole had been lowered to the base this morning, and will be raised on the barometer tomorrow when today’s investments have been made. Mr Nicholson said that it was probable that more progress would be made towards raising the town’s quota of £784 this week, when the publicity campaign was fully under way.
