SERGT.-PILOT C. DELLER - GUEST OF HONOUR AT GATHERING. (“Times-Age” Special.) j Members of the Carterton Footwall Club gathered at the Fire Brigade Hall last evening to entertain a member of their club, Sergt.-Pilot Crichton Deller. Members of the Odd Fellows’ Lodge also participated in the gathering. Mr A. E. Reid, president of the Carterton Football Club, presided, and said that they had met to honour a fellow footballer. Sergt.-Pilot Deller had been a valued member of the Carterton Football Club and they were sorry to loose him. After the toast of “The King,” Mr Reid asked the guest of the evening to accept a silver cigarette case from members of the club. Mr B. Roberts, M.P., a member of Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge, said he was glad to be present on such an occasion on behalf of his lodge to make a presentation to a fellow member. Sergt.Pilot Deller had been a very useful member of the Order. The Royal Air Force was the youngest unit of the fighting forces of the British Dominions and at the moment thousands of New Zealand’s young manhood belonged to the air arm. Already many had gained great distinctions, including V.C’s. He wished Sergt.-Pilot Deller good luck and a safe return to Carterton, the town of his birth. On behalf of Heart of Oak Lodge he asked their guest to accept a well-filled writing wallet. Sergt.-Pilot Deller suitably replied. Mr H. J. McKenzie proposed the toast of “Our Active Members Overseas,” and stated that so far 20 club members were in the fighting forces. Mr R. P. Wakelin replied in a capable manner. WEDDING DELLER—TAYLFORTH. A very pretty wedding was solemnised in St. Mark’s Church, Carterton, on Saturday, November 8, when Alice Eileen, only daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Taylforth and Sergeant-Pilot Culmer - Crichton Deller, R.N.Z.A.F., eldest son of Mr and Mrs G. H. Deller, were married. The Rev. W. F. Stent officiated and Mr Walter Thomas presided at the organ. The church was tastefully decorated with flowering shrubs and Banksia roses by friends of the bride. The bride, who was escorted by her father, was charmingly attired in a champagne satin gown cut on- classical lines with a flowing train ruched on the shoulders, heart-shaped bodice, long tight-fitting sleeves pointed over the hands, and a beautiful embroidered tulle veil with a head-dress of pearls in the shape of a coronet, which was kindly lent by the bride’s cousin. Mrs N. Cooper. She carried a sheaf of arum lilies and lily of the valley. Three bridesmaids were in attendance, Miss Joyce Taylforth and Miss Nancy Munn, cousins of the bride, and Miss Peggy Deller, sister of the bridegroom, who were dressed in full length dresses of sheer georgette in deep clover, apple green and cherry blossom pink; carried cascades of wisteria and sweet peas, and wore head dresses of similar flowers with shoulder length veils of net to tone with their frocks.

Corporal A. H. Deller, 2nd N.Z.E.F., brother of the bridegroom, carried out the duties of best man. Sergeant-Pilots R. B. Hendry and B. J. Doyle, R.N.Z.A.F., acted as groomsmen. After the ceremony a reception was held at “Bushcroft,” the residence of Miss G. Deller, where the guests were received by the bride’s mother, who wore a beige rose frock with navy accessories and a shoulder spray of lily of the valley. She was assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, wearing blue satin backed crepe with navy accessories and a shoulder spray of red rosebuds. ■ After the usual toasts had been honoured,'the wedding cake, made by the bridegroom’s mother, was cut. Among the many congratulatory messages received was a cablegram from Corpoial I. D. Carmine, in the Middle East. Guests were present from the Bay of Islands and Christchurch. Sergeant Pilot Deller and Mrs Deller left later for the north on their honeymoon, the bride wearing a dove grey satin backed crepe model frock with grey and scarlet accessories and a skunk stole, the gift of the bridegroom. Personal Items. The death took place at her residence, Clifton Avenue, yesterday, of a highly respected resident in the person of Mrs Emily Gilbert, widow of the late Mr William Charles Gilbert, dentist of Nelson, in her 90th year.
