The Hon. P. C. Webb, Minister of Labour, is on a visit to Christchurch. The Hon. R. Semple, Minister of National Service, is visiting Christchurch. The death occurred at Pahiatua yesterday of Mr Joseph John Beech, in his 73rd year. The Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, Prime Minister, left Wellington last night for Christchurch. He expects to return to Wellington on Sunday morning. The Hon. D. G. Sullivan, Minister of Munitions and Supply, left Wellington for Christchurch last night. He Will return to Wellington tomorrow. The Hon. H. T. Armstrong, Minister of Public Works, left Wellington last night for Christchurch. He expects to return to Wellington on Sunday. Messrs Newman Hoar and Robert Hoar, of Masterton, left yesterday for Harewood where they are to undergo training in flying for overseas service. Commissioner J. Evan Smith, Territorial Commander for the Salvation Army in New Zealand, left Wellington today on a 10 days’ tour of the East Coast, Waikato, and Taranaki districts. The Hon. H. G. R. Mason, Minister of Education, left Wellington today for New Plymouth. The Minister, who will open the new gymnasium at the New Plymouth Girls’ High School tomorrow, will return to Wellington on Sunday night. The Presbytery of Wellington will induct the Rev. W. J. Pellow, Th.M., to the charge at Kelburn on Tuesday, November 25, when the Moderator, the Rev. D. D. Scott, will officiate, and the Interim Moderator, the Rev. .A. Salmond, M.A., will address the minister and congregation. The funeral of the late Mrs A. A. Grant took place at Masterton yesterday afternoon. ’ The services at the house and the graveside were conducted by Mr R. H. Brewerton. There was a large cortege and a number of beautiful wreaths were received, among them being tributes from the Masterton Police Force, Taumarunui Police Force, ■' Taumarunui Assembly, Taumaranui Public Hospital nursing staff, Salvation Army Home League, and Masterton Gospel Hall. The pall-bear-ers were Messrs R. Grant, D. Brown, S. H. Amies, R. W. Harris, C. M. Gumbley and G. R. Holmes.

Brother Louis Othon, a member of the Marist Order, died in Wellington a few days ago at the age of 67 years. He was born in France and joined the Institute of the Marist Brothers at an early age, his services with them cover- 1 ing half a century. Early in his service he decided to devote his life to mission work, and his first field was in New Caledonia. After a short period there he was transferred to Australia. Later he was transferred to New Zealand, where he spent the latter part of his life. He had charge of the school in Napier for six years, and afterwards was stationed at the Hawkestone Street and Tasman Street schools in Wellington.

Mr J. H. Worboys, who for 25 years had been headmaster of the Kilbirnie School, died in Perth, Western Australia, recently, aged 75 years. He first went to Kilbirnie in 1896, when access to it was gained by a road over the hill, through the waste of manuka and gorse that was then Hataitai. He retired in 1921. He had been a teacher for more than 40 years, at first with the Hawke’s Bay Education Board, but later, for 31 years, with the Wellington Education Board. An enthusiastic Freemason, he was a member of the New Zealand Pacific Lodge (Master in 1901) and .for 18 consecutive years (1902-20) he was secretary. In 1917 he produced a history of the lodge to commemorate its 75th anniversary. He was also a Past Grand Deacon of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand.
