RECEIPTS AND PAYMENTS. According to a statement presented to a conference of patriotic bodies in Wellington recently, covering the period from October 1. 1940, to May 31. 1941, donations received totalled £20,722 and those credited to the London Distress Fund £59.900. Payments included £12.875 for the sick and wounded, grants of £15.500 to the Order of St John and New Zealand Red Cross, £lOOO for the relief of distress in Malta. £12,500 to the Polish Relief Fund in England and £3126 to Red Cross organisations overseas. The balance in hand on May 31 was £39,382.

Assets were given at £60,000 bank deposits and £360,000 in Treasury bills, besides £12.800 provided for contingencies in Egypt and England.
