EARLY MORNING FIRE
WASHHOUSE AND WOOD SHED SEVERELY DAMAGED. GOOD SAVE BY MASTERTON BRIGADE. Severe damage to a detached washhouse and woodshed at 10 Kirion Street, Masterton, was caused by a fire which broke out in the early hours of yesterday morning. The rear portion of the dwelling, which is occupied by Mr George Tinkler, was damaged by heat and water. The Masterton Fire Brigade received the call by street alarm at 3.27 a.m. Two motor pumps and 16 men under Superintendent T. B. Clark proceeded to the outbreak. The brigade quickly extinguished the fire, which had a good hold when the alarm was given. The owner of the property is Mr S. F. 'Evans, of Masterton.
