The death occurred suddenly in Wellington yesterday of Mr. Norman Alexander MacLeod, of “Glendrynoch,” Hinakura, at the age of 62 years. Mr. J. M. Murray, who has been secretary of the Yorkshire Society since 1933, is leaving Wellington to take up- residence in the South Island. Having been associated with the Native Department for more than 59 years, Judge James Wakelin Browne, Durie Hill, Wanganui, has retired after a record period of service. Wing Commander G. S. Hodson, R.A.F., commanding the R.N.Z.A.F. Station at Wigram, has been promoted to the rank of group captain (temporary) with effect from December 1.
