ST. LUKE’S CHURCH LADIES’ GUILD MEETING. ("Times-Age” Special.) The St Luke's Ladies' Guild held a meeting in the parish hall yesterday afternoon. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Kidd, Wiggins, Richards and, A. Nichols. Canon Sykes welcomed Mrs Lawry 1 , and also a new member, Mrs Evans. Arrangements were made in connection with the floral fair which is to be held in the Crown Theatre on Friday, November 8. Mrs York proposed that the next meeting be held on the Thursday, November 14. The motion was seconded by Mrs Sykes and carried. Mrs Carter proposed that Canon Sykes should open the fair. Mrs Shedden seconded the motion, which was carried by acclamation. Cancn Sykes reminded the members cf the Patronal Festival on Thursday. October 17. and that Canon Davies had consented to visit the parish on that occasion. On the following Sunday the Archdeacon cf Wairarapa would be here. Mrs Sykes served afternoon tea, after which Canon Sykes closed the meeting with the pronouncing of the Benediction. BOWLING CLUB NOTES. The Greytown bowling green is to be officially opened on October 26. The club will be represented at the opening of the Featherston and Martmborough greens on Saturday. The working bee which has been active all the winter at the Greytown bowling green, put the finishing touches on their work on Saturday last when they laid a concrete path 51ft. by 4ft. This work is greatly appreciated, as it was done without any assistance from the general committee. GIRL GUIDES CONCERT AT BUCHANAN HOME. The inmates of Buchanan Home were entertained last evening by the Greytown Girl Guides. The guides repeated the concernt which was held last Friday evening in the Scout hall. All the items were very well performed and were greatly appreciated. At the conclusion Matron Higginson thanked Mesdames G. R. Jury, Kempton and H. G. Carter, Mr E. Haigh and Girl Guides for having provided such an excellent entertainment. Farewell to Soldiers. The Greytown quota for the Fourth Reinforcements left by the afternoon train yesterday. The Mayor (Mr A. W. Horton) addressed the men and wished them good luck. He said that he hoped to see them all again when on leave. Mr J. W. Herod, chairman of the Greytown Branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association spoke in a similar strain. ' Euchre Party. There was another large attendance at the residence of Mr and Mrs H. Morgan for the weekly euchre party. The prize-winners were: Mr J. Keltic and Mrs M. Bouzaid 1; hidden number, Mr C. S. Nicholson. The consolation, Miss Hill and Mr N. Connolly. The takings, which amounted to £2 9s 6d, are to be handed to the local Red Cross Society. Personal. Mrs E. G. Harrison has left to reside at Wellington where her husband is in the defence force.
