FIRE BRIGADE MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Eketahuna Fire Brigade was held last night. Superintendent H. Rogers presiding over a good attendance of members. Accounts amounting to 8s 6d were passed for payment. It was decided to procure a quantity of stationery for the use of the secretary. Final arrangements for the annual ball were discussed. The matter of calling a meeting of the ladies’ committee was left in the hands of Mrs S. Daniel. The card committee was authorised to select a team to take part in the card tournament between the Masterton Friendly Societies’ Council and the Eketahuna Friendly Societies at Eketahuna on August 17. It was decided that Fireman H. Gyde’s name be engraved on the Brown Cup. Personal. Mr R. Payne. Alfredton Road, is suffering from a severe attack of influenza. Mr R. C. Gyde has returned to his home at Hastwells after having been the guest of Mr and Mrs C. Larsen. South Road, Masterton. Water Supplies Running Low. Owing to the exceptionally dry spell the household water supplies in country districts are running low. Bush Basketball. The second round of the Bush Basketball Association's senior competition is now being played and on Monday night., at the Pahiatua Drill Hall some very interesting matches were witnessed. The results were as follow:- —Konini A defeated Konini B 27/20; Eketahuna defeated Stars B. 27/14; Hukanui defeated Hamua, 21/11; Stars A defeated Tuis 24/19. There will be no competition games played next Monday.
