SCHOOL ESSAYS
MASTERTON CENTENNIAL WEEK CELEBRATIONS W.F.C.A. COMPETITION. LIST OF PRIZE-WINNERS. In order to stimulate interest in the Centennial Week celebrations, the Wairarapa Farmers' Co-operative Association, Ltd., offered prizes for the best essays contributed by children of the primary and secondary schools of Masterton, and the adjudicators, the mayor, Mr. T. Jordan, and members of the literary staff of the “Wairarapa Times-Age," have now made their> awards, which are as follow: — Senior: —A. C. Moore (Wairarapa College) first prize, £1 Is. od.; Juliet James (St. Matthew’s Collegiate School) second prize, 10s. 6d. Intermediate:—Margaret Stevenson (Wairarapa. College) first prize, £1 Is. od.; Betty Grey (Wairarapa College) second, prize, 10s. 6d. Primary: —Pamela Rogers (Masterton West School) first prize. £1 Is. od.: Wanda Te Awa (Lansdowne School. Masterton Hospital Class) second prize, 10s. 6d. The prizes have been forwarded to the winners by Mr. J. H. Cunningham, general manager of the W.F.C.A., Ltd., who congratulates the pupils who have wen prizes, and expresses his thanks to those who assisted with the competition.
