LEAGUE OF MOTHERS CHOIR VISITS BUCHANAN HOME. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Greytown League of Mothers Choir entertained the inmates of Buchanan Home on Saturday afternoon. The choir members supplied afternoon tea for the inmates after which a very enjoyable programme was rendered. Mrs G. Robinson (conductor), arranged the programme which was as follows: — ‘God Defend New Zealand, by the choir; pianoforte duet, Mesdames H. Farley and H. Carter; choir.. “Nymphs and Shepherds;" dance, highland Fling, Effie Dennes and Beth Stuart; soio. Mrs H. Farley; piano accordion items, Mrs E. Drysdale; choir, “John Peel;” solos, Master Douglas Robinson: dance, Beth Stuart and Fay Ross; table harp items. Mrs M. Greathead; mouth organ solos, Master H. Nichols; "Little Old Lady,” sung by Mrs H. Farley, acted by Mrs M. Greathead in costume', chorus by the choir. The singing of the League Hymn and the National Anthem concluded a very enjoyable programme. Mrs H. Carter acted as pianist. During the singing of “Apple Woman” by the choir, Mrs Shedden in costume, distributed apples to all inmates present . Mrs S. Shedden made and presented a buttonhole to each of the old folk. The choir was entertained at afternoon tea by the sisters and nurses. Mrs Horton expressed her thanks on behalf of the choir for the afternoon tea. In the absence of the Matron, Miss Higginson, Sister Elmers thanked the choir for having given the inmates such a treat. GOLF FLAG COMPETITION. There was a large attendance of golfers at the local links on Saturday afternoon. The flag competition was full of interest and T. Nelson proved the winner, finishing 2 feet from the flag at the 19th hole. W. S. Brice was another two feet away. The best net scores handed in were: —T. Nelson, 65; W. S. Brice, 66; E. Williams, 66; S. Shedden, 67; A. Lane, 67; L. Mead, 68; T. R. Ingley, 69; T. Gold. 71; H. Bull, 71; J. C. Feast. 75; W .Everett, 75; G. Te Whaiti, 76; J. W. Tate, 78; G. Robinson, 79. Personal Items. Mr G. Duff left on Saturday for Wellington, where he will spend a holiday. Mr and Mrs R. G. Vile returned to Greytown on Saturday after having been away several weeks on holiday.
