The men's golf club played the first ' medal round of the captain’s trophy on the Carterton links on Saturday, the best cards handed in being:—A. Munro, score 85, handicap 24, total Gl; R. It was decided to hold a meeting at ,'Dannevirke on Wednesday, June 19, at ' 11 a.m. It was resolved to recommend that Mr L. S. Gallon be added to the official list of judges. WEDDING DWANE—KNUTSON. A wedding of interest to Carterton residents took place at St Mary’s Church. Carterton, on Saturday afternoon, when Gytha Isobel, younger daughter of Mi- and Mrs H. Knutson, was married to John Edward Dwane, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Dwane, Park Road. The ceremony was performed by the Rev Father Connor. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a beautiful gown of creme cloque, cut on slim fitting lines to the knees, and ending in a very fully flared hem. The full knee length creme tulle veil was mounted on a coronet of gold flowers. Her shower bouquet was creme roses and chrysanthemums. The bridesmaids were dressed alike in two-coloured net over taffeta, giving a shot clover effect. Their headdress was of velvet flowers to tone, and they carried shower bouquets of clover chrysanthemums and hydrangeas. They wore pearls, the gift of the bridegroom. The bridesmaids were Miss Joan Edie, of Island Bay (chief), and Miss Hilda Dwane (sister of the bridegroom). Mr S. Dwane was bestman, and Mr M. Frederickson, of Eketahuna, groomsman. Whilst the register was being signed. Mr D. Irwiri sang a solo, Miss Berrill presiding at the organ. ) The reception was held at the Masjcnic hall, where relatives and a few iny Uniate friends were received by Mrs z H. Knutson wearing a model frock of wine wool georgette, assisted by Mrs Dwane, who wore a teal blue bolero suit. Each wore shoulder sprays to tone. Mr and Mrs Dwane were the recipients of many beautiful and useful presents including several cheques. When they left on their honeymoon, the bride wore a petrel green tailored costume with furs and hat to match. AGRICULTURAL CLUB CARTERTON BRANCH. At the annual meeting of the Carterton branch of the Wairarapa Boys’ and Girls’' Agricultural Club, Mr E. Rayner presided, and the following schools were represented: Carterton (Messrs Clark, and James McKenzie). Parkvale (Messrs Smith and Morgan), Taratahi West (Messrs E. Rayner and W. Daysh). Clareville (Mr J. Fisher); Dalefield (Messrs M. Parker and Jamieson). The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: —Chairman. Mr E. Rayner; secretary and treasurer, Mr H. J. McKenzie; executive. Messrs E. Rayner, L. Smith, M. Parker. E. James and H. J. McKenzie; Delegates to the Wairarapa annual meeting. Messrs E. Rayner and H. J. McKenzie. It was decided that the executive meet, and bring forward new regulations for this year's judging. A number of suggestions are to be brought forward by the delegates at the annual meeting at Greytown tonight. A vote of thanks was passed to all who assisted to make the last show such a success. Personal Items. Mrs Alan Bone, of Paeroa, is at present staying with her father. Mr C. H. Barber, Pembroke Street, Carterton. Mr Archie R. Clark, who met with an accident to his left eye while chopping firewood and who was receiving treatment from a specialist in Wellington, has returned home. Car Collision. Three cars were damaged opposite the State houses at South Carterton. A car driven by Richard E. Spooner, of Lowry Bay, Wellington, was proceeding south and when opposite the State houses crashed into a stationary car owned by R. W. Garrick, Government Housing Overseer. Mr Spooner’s car then swerved off and struck a vehicle driven by Constable Robertson. No one was hurt, but all the ears were damaged. Mushrooms in Demand. Mushrooms which arc in demand are selling in Wellington at Is 8d to 2s per lb. Baby Carnival.
