GAME OF CROQUET
MEETING OF METHODIST CLUB. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Carterton Methodist Croquet Club was held in the Sunday school when the financial position of the club was shown to be satisfactory with a good credit balance. It was decided to make a donation of £1 to the Church Trustees. The club members were very grateful for the valuable work done on tpe' croquet lawn by the Rev H. White. It was decided to open the courts on September 30. The subscription for the season was fixed at 10s. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mrs H. White; secretary and treasurer, Mrs S. Wadham. BABY CARNIVAL VOTES RECORDED. The following votes have been recorded in the W..D.F.U. baby carnival to date:—* . Parkvale, Dorothy Rayner, 6624. Taratahi-Belvedere, John Corbett, 6222. Dalefield. Dermot Fitzgerald, 6149. Heavy Hailstorm. Yesterday was ushered in by a beautiful sunny spring morning, but during the afternoon a thunderstorm was experienced. A heavy hailstorm which lasted for a quarter of an hour soon covered the countryside. This was followed by a heavy downpour of rain with the result that, the water- channels of the borough could not cope with the water and they soon became blocked at the intersection of several streets. Hockey Team. The Carterton hockey team to play Wesley at Carterton at 1.45 p.m. tomorrow is as follows: —A. Ward, I. Mackie, S. Fisher, D. Irwin, M. Worsfold, A. Harp, A.- Sewell, V. Sayer, D. Jackson, A. Fisher, and J. Steel. personal. A wedding of considerable local interest will take place in Carterton tomorrow evening. Mr Colin Sherriffff will be a visitor to Carterton over the weekend, and will take the services at the Presbyterian Church on Sunday, and at West Taratahi in the afternoon. i Church Service. Church of England services will be conducted at Gladstone at 11 a.m., and Parkvale at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
