WHAT A CLASH!
IF BLUE PETER AND PHARIS MEET IN LEGER. The French colt Pharis, winner of this season’s French Derby and Grand Prix de Paris, stands as far out from others of his age in his country as does Blue Peter among English three-year-olds. ' It is possible the pair will meet in the St Leger at Doncaster in September. The only engagement made for Pharis in England this season was the race mentioned, and it is probable his owner will be anxious for him to meet Blue Peter. Pharis is by Pharos, a brother to Fairway (sire of Blue Peter), so it will be keeping it in the family, so far as breeding is concerned, if either he or Blue Peter should win the St Leger. M. Boussac is one of S. Donoghue’s patrons, and if it is definitely decided to run Pharis in the St Leger, it is considered probable Donoghue will train him for the race. Heliopolis won at Ascot, and as he is credited with having improved greatly since the Derby, he may assist in making the St Leger interesting.
