CHURCH SERVICES

The services at the Salvation Army tomorrow will take the form of a great spiritual siege to be conducted by Brigadier Sydney Smith, Principal of the Salvation Army Training College, Wellington. The Brigadier will be ably supported by the officers of the College staff and 34 cadets, “The Dauntless Evangelists,” young men and women from all parts of the Dominion who are now in the Army’s College to be trained as officers. The cadets will take part in all the services during the day, and will-sing Gospel solos, duets, etc. In the afternoon the cadets will take part in a most interesting service entitled “Pictographs.” All are heartily invited to these special services. The Holy Communion will be celebrated at St. Matthew’s Church tomorrow. The Rev. T. V. Pearson will be the preacher at 11 a.m., and the Rev. E. J. Rich at 7 p.m. The usual services will be held at Kuripuni, Taueru, Rangitumau and Kopuaranga. The services at Knox Church tomorrow will be conducted by the Rev. John Davie. There will also be services at Matahiwi at 2 p.m., and at Solway at 7.30 p.m. The Church of Christ services tomorrow will be conducted by Mr W. R. Hibbert, Dominion Youth Organiser, assisted by Mr M. Williamson, President of the Youth Department. Rev. B. F. Carlisle, who will be the speaker at the Baptist Fellowship meeting at Masterton on Sunday, is another of the young ministers who have studied at the Baptist College. He is now stationed at the Feilding church. Visitors are assured of a warm welcome at this spiritual fellowship. The Baptist meetings are held in the Y.M.C.A. Hall at 11 a.m. On Tuesday evening the Rev. Hayes Lloyd, of the Lower Hutt Church, who is in charge of the Masterton work, will conduct the fellowship meeting in the Y.M.C.A. Hall. An “in memoriam” service for the late Mr C. E. Daniell will be held in the Methodist Church on Sunday evening, at 7 o’clock. The Rev. Fred. J. Parker will conduct the service, and will refer to the life and service of one so greatly loved in the church. By special request the choir will render the anthem, "Crossing the Bar.” All citizens who so desire are invited to join in this tribute of remembrance. The morning service in the Methodist Church tomorrow will be conducted by Mr F. G. Rutter, and at 3 p.m. the choir will take part in a service of praise at the Public Hospital. At the Kuripuni Methodist Church tomorrow, the Rev. Fred. J. Parker will conduct the morning service, and at 6.50 p.m. cars will leave the church to convey worshippers to the town church. The Methodist service at Mount Bruce tomorrow, at 2 p.m., will be conducted by the Rev. Fred. J. Parker.
