MINIATURE RIFLES COMPETITION RESULTS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The following are the scores in the miniature rifle competitions held in the Crown Theatre last night.:— A grade—H. Bennett, 83, 12, 95; J. Raison, 76, 12, 88; N. Harris, 76, 12, 88. The badge winners were: —A grade, Miss D. Roband; B grade, G. Gray. ( MARKET GARDENS OFFER OF LAND. A deputation of Greytown residents waited on the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon W. Lee Martin, on Thursday. offering land in Kuratawhiti Street for the purpose of market gardens. Among those who composed the deputation were the Mayor (Mr Horton), Messrs Robinson (canning factory), and Feast. (canning factory), and Feast. The deputation was introduced by Messrs B. Roberts and J. Robertson, members for Wairarapa and Masterton respectively. Suggesting that Wellington’s gardening requirements could be supplied from the Wairarapa district, the deputation gave the Minister particulars of the extent and quality of the land available for small fruit and vegetable growing, and said that the canning factory already established there would fit into a development scheme. The deputation was sympathetically received, but nothing definite was agreed upon. TABLE TENNIS BUTTONS TOURNAMENT. The fortnightly buttons tournament was held by the Methodist Club last evening. After a series of keenly contested ganies Miss N. Keltie and M. Rees emerged the winners. The runners-up were Miss N. Gray and A. Carter.
