FEATHERSTON COUNCIL MEETS

ALLOCATION OF TRAFFIC FEES

(“Times-Age” Special.)

The monthly meeting of the Featherston Borough Council was held last night. Those present were the Mayor, Mr J. W. Card, and Councillors D. J. Hardie. H. Cundy, M. B. Tait, C. C. Kenward, C. K. Skipage and W. Johnson. The Masterton County Council wrote requesting the council to advise if they were agreeable to the allocation of heavy traffic fees to be made for the ensuing two years, as on last year’s {basis. The clerk was instructed to inform the Masterton County that the council was agreeable to the existing basis of allocation. The Department of Labour wrote stating that where single men were employed under scheme 13 they were as far as practicable to be replaced by married men, where married men were unemployed. "Most of the men employed here are married,” said Mr Card. The clerk; "Yes. with the exception of one.”

Accounts passed for payment amounted to £594 2s 6d.
