FEATHERSTON
STEEL POWER TOWER WORK WELL UNDERWAY. (“Times-Age” Special.) Work is well underway in connection with the erection of the steel power tower which will ultimately carry electricity from Ngaio through the Wairarapa. At present a gang of men are working on .the towers on the Featherston-Tauherenikau plains, and are erecting about one a day. These towers which, are over 60 feet high and about 11 chains apart, are drawn up in sections by means of block and tackle, two men being on the ground and four up the structure. The latter are on a most precarious job and must be men of great skill and nerve, as the least slip could easily prove fatal.
