NATIONAL PARTY MEETING OF. DELEGATES. (“Times-Age” Special.) There were 61 delegates present at the annual meeting of the Wairarapa National Party, all parts of the electorate being represented. Mr J. L. Fairbrother occupied the chair and presented a report of the year’s operations. The finances are in a satisfactory state. Mr H. Curran, political educational officer, will visit Carterton on July 24, and Featherston on August 11. Delegates appointed to represent the electorate at the Dominion Conference at Wellington on July 12 and 13 are Miss O. Wolters, Miss E. Alpe, Mr J. J. Maher and Mr J. F. Thompson. The delegates reported on the Divisional Conference held at Palmerston North on May 17. After the conclusion of the annual meeting Mr L. Fairbrother was unanimously elected chairman for the ensuing year. Correspondence from Divisional Headquarters was dealt with. The meeting terminated with the singing of the National Anthem. The Featherston and Martinborough ladies provided a very delightful supper, which was very much appreciated. MINIATURE RIFLES WEEKLY COMPETITIONS. Wairarapa Clubs will be well represented at the Wellington Miniature Rifle Association’s Championship Meeting to be held in the Winter Show building on Saturday next. FOOTBALL JUBILEE SOME OLD HISTORY. Forty-four years ago there was formed in Carterton a governing body covering the clubs in the JVairarapa to play Rugby football on Thursday afternoons, the then recognised half holiday of business places in the Wairarapa. The management committee consisted of delegates from the various affiliated clubs. The winners in 1896 of the senior competition was the White Star Club of Masterton. Howie, who has been an inmate of Carter Home for some years, has found it necessary to enter the Masterton Hospital for treatment. The many Carterton friends of Mr Harry A. Bick, of Pahiatua, will regret to learn he is an inmate of the Pahiatua Public Hospital and that his condition is causing some anxiety. Snow Jn Pahiatua. Your correspondent who was in communication with Pahiatua this morning by telephone was informed that the weather in that town was bitterly cold and that snow was falling throughout the district. A heavy fall of snow has occurred on the Tararua Ranges and the foothills are coated with a white mantle this morning.
