DELAY IN BALANCING TOTALISATOR INVESTMENTS. CANTERBURY PARK INCIDENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Delay in balancing the investments recorded on the totalisator - for the second race at the Canterbury Park trotting , club’s meeting on Saturday was not due to any fault in the mechanism of the totalisator, but to momentary power failure in the supply from Lake Coleridge, said the totalisator engineer, Mr A. T. C. Roberts today. At the moment the flicker came in the power the machine was ultimating (adding up the odd units). A process that takes only fifteen seconds, but the interruption was sufficient to cause a delay as the machine was in the middle of transferring the odd units to the main group. Adjustments then had to be made manually as had the stand-by battery plant been brought into operation the odd units already recorded would have been rung up again, it was unfortunate that the break came while the machine was ultimating, said Mr Roberts, as had the break occurred at any other time little inconvenience would have been caused.
