RESULT OF ACCIDENT. SCHOOLMISTRESS INJURED. A Wembley schoolmistress, who compained that she had acquired an embarrassing wink as a result of a motorcar collision, was awarded £l5OO damages by a common jury before Mr Justice Humphreys in the King’s Bench Division, London. She is Miss Emily’ Mounsey, of Wembley Park, and she sued Mr Frank Chase, formerly a professional icehockey player, who was driving her car at the time of the accident; Mr W. A. R. Moody, of Stockwell, the owner of the other car involved, and Mr Frederick George Gaywood, of East Dulwich, who was driving Mr Moody’s car. The accident occurred shortly after midnight on September 6, 1937, when Mr Chase was driving Miss Mounsey back to Wembley from Bromley. Miss Mounsey, who was thrown through a window of her car, was badly cut. Scars were still visible on her face and neck. Sir Harold Gillies, the plastic surgeon, stated that some of the scars could be removed at a cost of 100 guineas. Miss Mounsey told the court that, as a result of ah injury to a nerve, she often gave the impression that she was winking. "It is very embarrassing at times,” she said. The jury found negligence on the part of Mr Gaywood, and judgment was entered for Miss Mounsey against him for £l5OO. with costs. It had been agreed that there should be judgment for Mr Moody, without costs. Judgment was also entered for ■ Mr Chase against Mr Gaywood, with costs.
