OUTLOOK FOR SHIPPING
DUKE OF KENT ON NEED FOR IMPROVEMENT. - BENEFITS OF INCREASING TRADE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON, December 22. The Duke of Kent, presiding at the council of the King George Fund for Sailors, said: “I was perhaps a trifle over-optimistic last year when I said that the shipping outlook was more cheerful, because after that shipping experienced a very difficult time. Yet I hope and believe that the situation will shortly improve as trade is increasing. “I am confident that when I next preside —which won’t be for some years, because of my visit to Australia—l shall find a degree of prosperity firmly established.” The Duke added that the fund had completed 21 years’ work for seamen.
