THROWING CRACKERS
DANGEROUS PRACTICE ON CHRISTMAS EVE. POLICE TO TAKE ACTION. “I hope the dangerous practice of throwing crackers on Christmas Eve will not be repeated tonight,” said the Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, this morning. Mr Jordan said the throwing of crackers in crowded streets was a senseless thing, which was attended by the possibility of damage to clothing and injury to the person. He appealed to the public to refrain from this practice, which was an offence, and pointed out that offenders would be dealt with by the police, who would take every step possible to prevent a recurrence of last year’s practice. '
