MOTOR ACCIDENT

TRANSPORT LORRY LEAVES ROAD. DRIVER TAKEN TO HOSPITAL. When a loaded transport lorry left the road and crashed down a bank in the early hours of this morning the driver, Mr Norman Carswell, received scalp wounds, which necessitated his admittance to the Masterton Hosptal. Mr Carswell was driving one of the fleet of lorries recently taken over by the Government, and was returning to Masterton from Wellington. The accident occurred about 1.30 a.m. on the Carterton side of the Waiohine bridge. Mr Carswell was attended to by Dr R. Campbell, of Carterton, and later taken to hospital. His condition this morning was reported to be improving.
