WRESTLING

MATCH AT NEXT WEEK. The Dominion Wrestling Union has made available to its affiliated associations some of the most famous wrest'lers in the world, but it is doubtful whether any of the great matmen which it has handled up to the .present have been more famous than Ray Steele, who is to appear in Masterton against Leo Jensen on Tuesday, June 7. Steele is one of the greatest wrestlers of today. Many experts, in fact, contend that the distinction of being the greatest matman of the day probably lies between Steele, Jim Londos, and Earl McCready. Steele weighs a few pounds over 16 stone and is just on 6ft in height, his physique being perfect in every respect. A native of Los Angeles, he is an experienced campaigner in the Eastern American rings, where the best of the world’s mat talent is invariably assembled. The selection of Leo Jensen as Steele’s opponent will ensure the formidable visitor being seen at his best as Jensen, a fast and nuggety matman who will give anything a go, is always most impressive when he is really up against it. At the usual prices, the plan will soon fill up and patrons are advised to book early at Orange’s, Masterton, or Hughan’s, Carterton.
